How Emface Works
Your face is a complex, interconnected structure of skin, tissues, muscles, and ligaments. All these pieces work together and balance each other out to help you express yourself. Over time, though, gravity and aging affect your features, pulling them down.
Emface addresses these issues by treating your skin and muscles simultaneously. Using high-intensity facial electrostimulation (HIFES), Emface stimulates your muscles to contract thousands of times in a single session.
Emface specifically targets your muscles of expression in your forehead, cheeks, and corners of your mouth. As these muscles become denser and healthier, they push against the frowning muscles that pull your face down. As a result, your face regains some natural lift.
At the same time, Emface also uses monopolar radio frequency energy to remodel your skin. This energy heats the deep tissues of your skin, increasing the production of collagen and elastin. With more of these proteins, your skin’s internal structure tightens, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. You can look forward to more youthful, supple skin, more like you had back in the day!
What to Expect From Your Session
When you visit ThrIVE for Emface in Wheeling, we start by cleaning your face and positioning the applicator pads. Depending on your treatment plan and desired outcome, we place these on your forehead, cheeks, under the chin, and the muscles at the corners of your mouth.
Next, we adjust the energy levels for each pad, accounting for any imbalances or areas that need extra energy. As the treatment begins, you’ll simultaneously feel your skin growing warm and the sensation of your muscles contracting.
After 20 to 40 minutes, your session will wind down and end. We will remove the applicator pads, and you’re free to return to your day.
NEW at ThrIVe Wheeling: Emface for TMJ Dysfunction
Clenching your jaw? Waking up sore? Catching yourself grinding your teeth like it’s your full-time job? Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction can cause real discomfort and pain, and our team gets that. That’s why we’re excited to share that Emface is now FDA cleared to help treat TMJ dysfunction. That means Emface in Wheeling can now be used to help relieve common TMJ symptoms like:
- Muscle spasms
- Jaw pain
- Limited range of motion
So, What Is Emface?
Think of Emface as a high-tech, no-needles-needed way to retrain your muscles. It combines synchronized radiofrequency (RF) heating and HIFES® (High Intensity Facial Electrical Stimulation) to target facial and jaw muscles at a deeper level.
For TMJ treatments, we tweak the standard Emface protocol to focus on addressing the key players of TMJ. This includes the masseter and temporalis muscles (aka, the ones doing the heavy lifting and the over-clenching). The RF energy helps to relax tight, overworked muscles while boosting circulation and gently warming the tissue. At the same time, the HIFES technology stimulates muscle contractions to help retrain and strengthen the jaw. This leads to improved muscle function, less tension, and a jaw that finally gets the memo to relax.
Why This Matters for TMJ Relief
Many TMJ cases are rooted in muscle-related issues, like myalgia and myofascial pain. Traditional treatments often involve night guards, medications, injections, or even surgery. Effective? Sometimes. Ideal? Not always.
Emface in Wheeling offers a noninvasive, non-surgical alternative that targets the muscles directly: no stress, no needles, and no downtime required. If you’re dealing with jaw pain, clenching, grinding, or difficulty opening and closing your mouth, this treatment may help address the root of the issues instead of just managing symptoms.
What to Expect From Treatment
Your Emface treatment plan will be tailored to you, but most of our clients can expect 4 to 6 sessions, each lasting around 20 minutes, spaced a week apart. During your treatment, you’ll feel gentle muscle contractions coupled with a warm, soothing sensation.
The best part? Zero downtime. You can arrive for your treatment, relax, and get right back to your day. Many clients notice relief from pain and muscle tension after completing their series, with some feeling improvements even sooner.
Less clenching. More comfort. A jaw that finally chills out? That’s what Emface can do for you.
